Tonight would normally be the time when people would make a floral offering to the patron saint of the town. This year though, the Fiesta Commission have asked that people donate non perishable items to help the needy instead – it could be anything from a tin of beans to a bottle of shampoo.
The flowers were always nice but in these times of hardship for many, the money spent on them could be used more beneficially.
The collection will be made at 8pm tonight by the church.
