I’m not intolerant but…

If you live out in the country without another house in sight, then you can make as much noise as you like and nobody will complain. However, when you live on an urbanisation with other houses in close proximity, then I’d say you have to show some consideration for your neighbours.

In the summer months when the weather is good, it is only natural that people will want to hold parties outside and when you have a large group of people together then there is bound to be noise. I think we all understand that and show tolerance of those sort of situations.

In my opinion, the party that someone held at Villas Andrea yesterday went beyond that. The fireworks started in the morning and were so loud that they hurt your ears. Those continued throughout the day. If you heard the swoosh, then you were prepared for the almighty explosion that followed; otherwise they would make you jump out of your skin- it must have been terrifying for any pets living here.

At about 11:30pm the fireworks culminated with one long salvo of explosions that we thought might mark the end and it did for awhile. Sure, you could still hear the people shouting and the children screaming at the tops of their voices but at least the fireworks were finished. That was until 1:30am when I can only assume they found another supply of maroons and decided to set them off. It is one thing to put up with fireworks all day long but quite another to be woken from your sleep by them.

If we had been in England then the police would have been called out and they would have made the partygoers show some restraint. However, we are not in England, this is Spain and we know that Spaniards love noise and loud fireworks sow we have to respect that.

I might be on my own here (I doubt it) but I thought that yesterday’s party went a step too far.
