Our scout is on the course

Yesterday’s stage in Le Tour was a bit of a thriller. With just over 20kms to go, a breakaway group set off from the peleton and managed to hold on to their lead until the end of the race.

Team Columbia – HTC did the lion’s share of the work at the front to put their rider, Mark Cavendish, in the right position for his sprint finish.  So another notch on Mark’s belt as he romped home for his sixth stage win in the Tour.

There was controversy in the Astana team. Lance Armstrong was in the breakaway group leaving Alberto Contador in the peleton. This wise move by Armstrong means that he now lies 3rd in the general classification – 19 seconds ahead of his team leader.

Today we have the team time trial. Chief scout, John Thorpe has travelled to France with his wife Carol to watch the stage live. So somewhere out on the course we may see John and Carol – who knows. I hope they have a great day.
