Common sense really

The Medical Centre in Bigastro offers the following advice to enable people to cope with the hot weather.

The people at most risk are; children under 5, older people, people who are obese, those who are engaged in physical activity or those who are infirm.

The recommendations are:-
  • drink a lot of liquid but avoid too much alcohol or caffeine.
  • eat little and often especially fruit and vegetables.
  • wear light coloured thin clothing which covers as much as possible.
  • use sun cream
  • plan activities for times when the day is cooler.
  • make sure that children and old people drink plenty.
  • use your air conditioning to reduce both the temperature and the humidity.
  • don't leave young and old people or animals in a parked car.
